Collective salvation

This blog post from Rev. Margaret Aymer, Ph. D. got my blood running hot:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rev-margaret-aymer-ph-d/james-2-1-10-11-13-14-17-poverty-wealth-equality_b_1854874.html?utm_hp_ref=religion#s308815&title=Luke_62021

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have never seen in the Bible, even in the book of James, where we as Christians are to give any government OUR responsibility for helping the poor and widows and orphans. There is no such thing as collective salvation. We will stand ALONE at the throne of The Almighty, giving account for only our own life.

Everything within me declares: Please do not believe this lie that is told that somehow, if we let some benevolent government TAKE "contributions" from us under penalty of fines and imprisonment, and, in our collective name, give it to the people THEY see fit to benefit, that we collectively will benefit from God's grace.

It is a lie from the father of lies, in my opinion!

An open letter to Senator Jim Webb

Dear Senator Webb,

You need to watch this video from CNBC: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/07/28/nyses_langone_obama_acting_unpresidential_and_petulant.html

I'm sorry that you think the Republicans are "using this issue as a lever to bring about their view of radical change." May I ask you, sir, what are Democrats using this issue to do? Have you thought that maybe America NEEDS radical change? This country can't go on spending TRILLIONS of dollars it does not have. I do not want my grandchildren paying the damage the federal government is causing. I have no doubt that the debt limit will be raised once again. (Note that, since Ronald Reagan's administration, who Democrats take such pleasure in using for their own purposes, raised the debt limit 18 times, that that Congress (not Ronald Reagan) had to vote each time for this to happen. This is a good reason to extend the debt limit only as an emergency measure. Then, let's address the REAL problem: spending more money than we have. CUT THE SPENDING!! Cut taxes on businesses, so THEY can create jobs. That creates revenue.

I'm sick of the games. You guys are all flushing our future down the toilet. How much sense does it make to owe China anything?!!! Hire people to find all the waste in government! Tell people "NO," you can't have everything you want. Let capitalism and a free economy WORK!

It's amazing to me that you would bring Vietnam into this and that you would compare what the Republicans are trying to do to that. I'm sorry that this is hard and that some people might not like you for standing for common sense solutions.

You wanted the job. Now DO it! Do it for our future, not for a two-bit socialist who is "tempted" to do things on his own to "fundamentally transform" this country. If you do, you're selling our liberty.

Sincerely,
Susan Weaver

Whatever happened to HONEST debate?

Today, I was reading an article that is about to drive me up the wall. Hypocrisy to the nth degree! Imagine the swelled head someone has to have to tell another person to shut up, just because they disagree with the point of view. No, it's worse than that. This person believes that the other point of view should be censored, since, apparently, this person's point of view is perfect truth. I am talking about Paul Krugman.

The article that brought this to my attention was written by Noel Sheppard for NewsBusters:

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2011/07/27/krugman-balanced-news-media-true-moral-failure-destroying-america

I also read Paul Krugman's actual blog:

http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/07/26/the-cult-that-is-destroying-america/

He shows his hand, in my mind, when he calls the right "crazies." That's not too demeaning, is it?

The truth is that what people believe, they believe. Some people will change their minds. Some people do not take the time to decide what they truly believe and are led in one direction or another at someone else's whim. Some leaders or commentators think that the only way they can change enough minds to get a majority on their side is to lie to them. The end justifies the means. To my mind, and according to my beliefs, doing the wrong thing, even if you believe it will lead to the best income (again, only an opinion), is still the wrong thing. And, if your voice can only be heard by censoring the other voices, that is wrong. The 1st Amendment is for all Americans. What makes liberals, like Paul Krugman really mad is that people watch and listen to news and commentary that they agree with, because it strikes a chord and acknowledges that they are not alone in their views. The problem is that more people are watching FoxNews and ALOT less are watching MSNBC. (That doesn't even count the people who think John Stewart and Stephen Colbert are reporting news).

Hey, Paul, sometimes I do watch MSNBC, but when I get tired of hearing my own opinions called "crazy," I am happy to turn back to FoxNews or, better yet, watch a good movie...

Glenn Beck: Remembering with fondness... the good ole days

I am a big fan of Glenn Beck. Yes, I have said it and I don't care who knows it. I started listening to Glenn on the radio just after the Sept. 11th attacks and have listened almost daily since then, when able. I even joined "the Insider" so I could see Glenn on the Web cam and listen to his radio program when I couldn't listen during the 9-12 am broadcast. Since Glenn has also appeared on first CNN, then FOX News, my husband and I have tuned in or recorded each program.

Today's news is full of stressful events, including economic upheaval, political head-butting, disinformation, distrust, and just plain frustration. Add that to just the day-to-day lives that people live with their individual issues. We are in a real pressure-cooker world.

Well, in the midst of all this, my little screen saver runs on my computer. The screen saver I use the most is a series of my favorite photos that come in and go out in series. Among the pictures of friends and family, vacations, and happy events is a picture I took of Glenn when he was here in Richmond for the Rally for America event in March, 2003, to support our country and our deployed troops. My husband and I dressed in our best red, white and blue. I made a couple of signs and even made a silly hat made of duct tape (Glenn's listeners will know why this is significant). It was a great day! But what I remember most from that day, besides the approximate 10,000 people that were there with us, was this one picture that I snapped of Glenn and a little Cub Scout. So, today, I remember a simpler time -- I can't believe I'm saying that -- and a little picture that makes me smile every time it pops up on my computer's screen saver. Thanks, Glenn. And God bless you.

What kind of world are we leaving to our children & grandchildren?

When I remember fondly what my own childhood was like, it makes me so very sad to think of the childhood my grandchild must endure. My children and granddaughter live in a world where much of the innocence is gone, where every day contains a "crisis." People in power or who are of a mind to grab power are manipulating conditions for their own benefit. I'm sorry, but they are lying to themselves if they purport to have the mostly ignorant masses in mind. The words of Rahm Emmanuel continue to come to mind: "You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." George Washington is rolling over in his grave! The world we are leaving our children and grandchildren will not be recognizable as that envisioned by our founders.

Something to think about before you vote on Nov. 4th

Hello, friends and family.

This is not something I usually do, but I feel I must communicate some information that you may or may not have figured into your selection of the next President of the United States of America. I take full responsibility for the repercussions of the information. Some of you will agree; others will not. So be it.

Yes, the words "socialism" and "Maxism" are being tossed around, depending on who you are listening to on the TV news or reading in the press. Supporters of Barack Obama are dismissing this as ridiculous. I am not taking their word for it -- neither should you. Read this definition and follow some of the links, if you want to open your eyes to what we will be facing in an Obama presidency:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marxist
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism

Of course, as an American citizen, you are free to believe what you will and to make your own decision. But as an informed voter, you are also obliged to know for whom and what you are voting. PLEASE educate yourself about the realities of this election. Read the U.S. Constitution; reaquaint yourselves with the founding fathers. Your vote could help determine how "freedom" is defined in the future for you, your children, and your grandchildren.

If you have found some truth here, please pass it on to friends and family.

God bless America!
Susie

Sarah Palin Rally at RIR

Me and 25,000 of my friends gathered in a field outside the Richmond International Raceway on Monday, October 13, 2008 (Columbus holiday) to greet Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin to Richmond. Everyone was tired from standing for hours in the hot sun; but when Sarah finally emerged at about 2:30 pm, the excitement was revived. This woman has single-handedly revived the Republican campaign for the presidency and has injected hope that this government "of the People" can be returned to the people. Today, John McCain, the Republican candidate for President of the United States, in a speech at Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, gave me hope that he knows how to lead this country and is the best candidate at this time for preserving the American dream.
